Let’s be honest. The neighborhood of Castle Heights has historically always been a less affluent area than surrounding neighbors, however, its history has nonetheless outlasted many of them. Originally founded in 1922, Castle Heights is located at the western end of the City of Los Angeles. With roughly 900 homes seated on Castle Heights’ streets, along with multi-family apartments and condominiums, the neighborhood is a choice location for growing Southern California families. Because there are few commercial buildings in Castle Heights, many residents are instead employed at nearby movie studios since the neighborhood is just a short drive from both Fox Studios and Sony Studios.
Most of the homes in Castle Heights today are still standing from the building years of the 1920’s and 1940’s; as noted by the Spanish Revival style of the neighborhood’s architecture. The last of the tract homes built in the area went up in 1962. Many of the homes remaining are from that time as well.
As with any neighborhood in the greater Los Angeles area, Castle Heights is near some of the best things to do in L.A. The list of eateries alone is endless and includes local hotspots like Undergrind Cafe, Sushi Zo, The Coop Pizza, The Empanada Factory, Almaza, Rubio’s Cafe, Taco Plus, The Bagel Factory, Zooies, and Asian Fusion.
