Best Car Colors to Hide Dirt

When shopping for a car, you probably already know that the color of the exterior paint job is important. If you are like many people, you might just look at the color that is more attractive to you at the time. However, you probably want to think about the future when choosing your car color. After all, even though you might want to think that your new car will be spotless all the time, the truth is that it might get little dirty in-between washing. By choosing the right car color, you can help hide some of this dirt so that it’s not quite so obvious when you aren’t able to hit the car wash or detailing shop right away.

Avoid Black

Many people love the striking look of black vehicles. However, if you are concerned about showing dirt, you will probably want to avoid black. Black vehicles can mirror dirt and grime, making it more than obvious when you aren’t able to wash your car regularly. Dents, dings and scratches can be a lot more obvious on black vehicles as well, and black vehicles can get really hot on the inside on sunny days, particularly when the temperatures rise. Therefore, unless you are dead set on the idea of buying a black car, you might want to think twice before choosing this car color. By choosing a lighter color, you can save yourself a lot of headaches later on.

Avoid White

Another car color that you will probably want to avoid is a bright white car. Even though white cars don’t show dents, dings and scratches quite as obviously as black cars do, dirt and mud can obviously really stand out. Fortunately, you don’t have to worry about issues like the car getting as hot as a black car does during the summer, but white is another color that you might want to think twice about when shopping for a car.

Consider Gray or Silver

Perhaps the best color to choose if you’d like a car that will hide dirt in-between washings is gray or silver. These lighter-colored cars don’t show dirt, scratches or other imperfections like black cars and other darker cars do, and mud isn’t quite as obvious on them as it is on a white car. Plus, the interior of a gray or silver car can be a lot more comfortable in the summer than it can be in a darker-colored vehicle. When choosing a gray car, however, you will probably want to choose a lighter color; after all, although darker shades of gray can be quite striking, you have to worry about similar issues with these cars as you do with black cars.

As you can see, there are some car colors that are a better choice than others. If you have your heart set on a certain color, then it might be worth it. Overall, though, choosing a silver or gray car can be a good choice if you would like to disguise dirt in-between washings and enjoy other benefits as well.
